Port Moody Hike: Buntzen Lake Loop

The Bunzten Lake Loop is a very popular local trail. It covers 10 km and can be completed in anywhere from 45 minutes (for runners) up to 6 hours (for those who like to take their time). There are lots of beautiful spots along the way to stop and take in the views or enjoy a picnic. Buntzen Lake is a man-made reservoir owned by BC Hydro but is surrounded by beautiful woodland.

As it’s a loop, you could theoretically start and finish anywhere along the trail, but most people start from the parking lot on the lake’s eastern side, towards the southern end. It’s important to remember that the park gates are closed at night and this can be as early as 4:30 pm in winter, so remember to factor that into your planning.
