Port Moody to Become Holiday Wonderland

Port Moody residents who love Christmas lights are in for a treat. The city has approved over $30,000 to be spent on holiday lighting for St. Johns, Clarke and Murray streets. The money will also cover a large Christmas tree which will stand outside the Port Moody Arts Centre.

Those streets will have garlands of lights and wreaths hung in trees and on lamp posts. The illuminations open on Saturday, November 25th, 2017, and will stay up until January 15th, 2018.

This spending is on top of the holiday lights and decorations previously planned for Port Moody’s city hall, fire hall #1 and Queens Street Plaza. To add even further to the festive spirit, the city is also encouraging local business to put up their own Christmas lights and displays, offering the chance to win a free business licence.

To enter the contest, businesses must post a picture of their decorations online using the hashtag #PoMoLights.
