Yellow Dog Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2014 and soon became a well-loved Port Moody establishment. Founded by husband-and-wide duo Melinda and Mike Coghill, the brewery aims to bring a family atmosphere to the craft beer world.
The large tasting room offers plenty of room for spending time with family and friends while sipping on some of Yellow Dog’s delicious products. Go for a flight and sample a range of flavours. Yellow Dog has seven core beers: Retriever Golden Ale, Take A Wal Witbier, Shake A Paw Porter, Sit and Stay ISA, Chase My Tail Pale Ale, High Five Hazy IPA and Play Dead IPA. As if those weren’t enough, the beer list is often supplemented with seasonal brews.
Unlike many other breweries, Yellow Dog does not filter its beers. According to the Yellow Dog website: “Although filtering beer makes it look pretty and brings out the clarity, it also takes away from some of the flavour that we’ve tried really hard to impart to our lovely suds. We let nature take its course and use cold temperatures to naturally let the beer settle to create a nice, clear and very tasty craft beer!”
Yellow Dog’s tasting room offers a range of snacks, such as sausages and pastries, to enjoy alongside your beer, and there are often food trucks parked outside. Check when there will be food trucks on the brewery’s events calendar.
Along with Twin Sails, Parkside and Moody Ales, Yellow Dog makes up Port Moody’s ‘Brewer’s Row.’
